Marvel can make the dark universe impossible

With the arrival of characters based on the supernatural, the MCU can build its own dark universe and be more successful than Universal.

wonder is currently working on a Halloween special that will air exclusively on Disney +, and it would have Werewolf by Night in mind, which means Marvel can create the dark universe that Universal just couldn’t achieve. The Marvel Cinematic Universe Continues To Expansion Now That The Infinity Saga Has Ended With Spider-Man: Far From Home, and its highly anticipated Phase 4 does things differently, covering not only movies but TV shows, all of which air on Disney +. This has allowed Marvel to tell different and more detailed (and in some cases also more complex) stories, and it may be on the way to creating its own dark universe through some of them.

The MCU has a long list of projects planned for the near future, both on the big screen and on TV / streaming, and while this universe’s current theme is the multiverse, some of the upcoming projects point in one direction. more supernatural. Marvel Comics is best known for its superheroes and villains, but it also has many interesting and obscure characters, some of whom are set to join the MCU very soon – and it is through them that the MCU can create its own. own dark universe similar to the one that Universal has failed to build and maintain for years now.

With the original Avengers lineup now disbanded, and even though the Guardians of the Galaxy are still around, the MCU is missing a great team, and it could see the formation of a very special one thanks to the supernatural characters that have already been introduced and those which should arrive soon. This team consists of the Midnight Sons, a group of supernatural superheroes originally made up of the Nightstalkers (Blade, Frank Drake and Hannibal King), Morbius, Vengeance and the Darkhold Redeemers (Sam Buchanan, Victoria Montesi, Louise Hastings, Modred the Mystic, and Jinx), who were secretly reunited by Doctor Strange, who later joined the team. One version of the team also includes Moon Knight and Werewolf by Night, both slated to arrive in the MCU in 2022, laying the groundwork for a dark Marvel universe like one Universal could never achieve.

Universal’s Dark Universe, better known as Universal Classic Monsters, is a franchise based on horror films produced by Universal Pictures from the 1930s to the 1950s, with the most notable titles being Dracula (with Bela Lugosi), Frankenstein (with Boris Karloff in the role of the Monster), The Mummy, and The invisible Man. Following the success of The Mummy in 1999, Universal tried several times to reboot the franchise with projects that ended up being unsuccessful, the most recent being the 2017 remake of The Mummy, with Tom Cruise. Now, and as mentioned above, the MCU is bringing in supernatural characters like Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac), Blade (Mahershala Ali), and Werewolf by Night (Gael García Bernal), paving the way for the formation of the Midnight Sons, d ‘especially since characters like Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Morbius (Jared Leto) will already be part of this universe when they arrive. So Marvel has the perfect opportunity to create their own version of the dark universe of Universal with these characters, and they have a better chance of succeeding because they already know how to connect their characters to create a cohesive shared universe.

Of course, with Universal still working on various monster movies, and with the success of Leigh Whannell The invisible Man For its part, the Universal Dark Universe could finally find what it needed to be a successful franchise, but so far, everything indicates wonder have a better chance of succeeding in this area with Moon Knight, Blade, Werewolf by Night and the potential Midnight Sons team.
